New year

A new year is coming, and after a few months of getting used to this new life, I'm ready to write a little bit more about my crafty experiments.

First thing first: baby blanket for Endre baba! (Endre is the name of my friends' son, born in October). His parents are Hungarian (Endre baba means baby Andrew), so a few friends and I decided to knit him a blanket that we embroidered with traditional Hungarian patterns coming from the Transylvania region his father comes from. I looked in the many books I brought back from my many trips to Europe, chose yarn that would match the colours of traditional craft in the region (furniture, gates, etc.) and here is the result:

My finished square (but why is it uploading in this direction?)

And this was the inspiration for the colours (from this web site)

It is the first piece I finish, since learning how to knit a few months ago! And I was so, so happy with the result, I love the colours, I love the patterns, I love everything about it. I was so happy to be able to use traditional patterns for this, it gives it so much meaning!

I'm working on a few more things, hopefully I'll write more about them soon!
